Bruce Mason Centre

Bruce Mason Centre

Located in Takapuna, a stone's throw away from the beach and with stunning views of Rangitoto, The Bruce Mason Centre is a short drive from Auckland's CBD and located in the heart of Takapuna's dining district.

Bruce Mason Centre is named after one of New Zealand's greatest playwrights Bruce Mason.

Bruce was best known for a classic Kiwi play called 'The End of the Golden Weather'. You can see memorabilia from his life on site, including his desk and typewriter. The Governor General at the time, Sir Michael Hardie Boys GNZM, GCMC, officially opened the Centre in 1996.

The Centre has a lead role in arts and entertainment on the North Shore. It won the Medium Venue of the Year award at the EVANZ Awards 2015, and hosts all kinds of shows. From family entertainment, to dance, to music, to comedy, (it's one of the hubs for the New Zealand International Comedy Festival) Bruce Mason Centre offers something for everyone.

The 1119 seat theatre has hosted all kinds of shows, from the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, to Foster and Allen, to comedians Noel Fielding and Nick Offerman, along with ballet, dance and family entertainment. The Theatre can be transformed into an elegant flat floor space for up to 450 guests.

A busy venue for the North Shore, there is a large variety of artists touring through as well as annual programs from key local community groups. Auckland Live presents monthly morning classical music concerts - Morning Melodies, key families events including Pick n Mix and much more.

Bruce Mason Centre Box Office is open 9.00am - 5.00pm, Monday to Friday, and 90 minutes before performances.
